Wow, it’s been a year.
I know everyone is saying that 2016 was the worst, but, as I have often told my friends – I only get paid if the world is going to hell so it worked out for me.
Looking back over everything which has happened and all the photos I’ve taken in the past 12 months I’m always impressed by just how long a year actually is.
I spent February taking photos for Klipsun Magazine and the next quarter I helped produce the Summer 2016 edition. I continued to run social media for two different anti-human trafficking organizations in Bellingham and organized, promoted, and photographed events throughout the spring. I finished my senior quarter and tore my hair out over projects, papers, internships, and still trying to find time to sleep. I spent the summer driving raspberry trucks (going to be telling stories about that forever) and working in a daycare and taking photos for the NWIRC. Then it was off to Cuba were I lived through the election, the death of Fidel, and my camera breaking down in a foreign country. And now I’m home – ready to start job hunting and take on the world.
It’s been a whirlwind.
And looking back it just makes me laugh because every time I started one of those projects I remember thinking to myself with blinding panic “I can’t do this!” But then I proceeded to totally do it
I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions, but this time I’m going to make an exception.
Looking back on everything I’ve done and everything I’ve accomplished I think it’s about time I drop the gut reaction of “I can’t do this”. Because I obviously can.
So this year, my resolution is to be unstoppable. Because any girl with decent photography skills who graduated at 20 and lived in Cuba for four months can do anything she puts her mind to.
Preach it, Sister!!!
